What to Do in OKC This Weekend: August 22–23, 2026

Your OKC Weekend Date Guide | August 22–23, 2026

The last full weekend of August is here—and if you're looking for a reason to get out of the house together, Oklahoma City has some seriously good options.

This weekend is especially good for couples who like their dates to have a little personality.

You've got Broadway, live horse racing, candlelight concerts, art, farmers markets and even a little creative hands-on fun.

So skip the “What do you want to do?” conversation.

We've got you covered.

🎭 HAMILTON's Final Weekend in OKC

Saturday, August 22 & Sunday, August 23

If you haven't seen HAMILTON yet, this is your last weekend.

The Broadway production is at Civic Center Music Hall through August 23, with performances Saturday at 1:30 PM and 7:30 PM and Sunday at 1:30 PM and 7:30 PM.

Saturday's 7:30 PM performance is an especially good excuse for a proper date night.

Our date-night formula:

5:00 PM: Early dinner downtown
7:30 PM: HAMILTON
After: Dessert or a nightcap

Dress up. Make a reservation. Take a photo together. Treat it like a night out—not just another Saturday.

Date vibe: Elegant • Romantic • Big Night Out

🐎 Try Something Completely Different: Remington Park

Saturday, August 22 | First Post 6:30 PM

Ready to trade the usual dinner-and-drinks routine for something with a little excitement?

Live Thoroughbred racing is back at Remington Park, and Saturday's races begin at 6:30 PM.

Even if you're brand-new to horse racing, that's part of the fun. Pick a horse. Give it a ridiculous name. Make your prediction. Cheer like you've been doing this forever.

Then grab dinner or drinks and enjoy the atmosphere.

Our date-night idea:
Make a playful rule that each person gets to choose one race. Winner chooses dessert. Loser has to plan the next date.

Date vibe: Playful • Exciting • Unexpected • Night Out

🕯️ Listen to Music by Candlelight

Saturday, August 22

For something a little more romantic, head to the Yale Theater for a Candlelight concert.

There are two performances Saturday night:

6:30 PM — Candlelight: 90s Hip-Hop on Strings

or

8:45 PM — Candlelight: Coldplay & Imagine Dragons

The candlelit setting makes this one particularly date-friendly.

Our pick:
Choose the 8:45 PM Coldplay & Imagine Dragons performance and make it the final stop of your evening. Dinner first. Concert second. No itinerary required after that.

Date vibe: Romantic • Intimate • Musical • Dress-Up

🎨 Make Something Together

Sunday, August 23 | 1–4 PM

Here's one of our favorite ideas for couples who don't want to simply watch something together.

The Oklahoma City Museum of Art is hosting The Art of Fabric Dyeing, a hands-on workshop where participants design and hand-dye their own silk scarf.

The class is designed for adults and runs from 1–4 PM.

It's $45 for members and $65 for non-members.

And here's why we love this as a date:

You leave with something you actually made.

Our date-night idea:
Grab brunch beforehand, take the class together and then go somewhere for a late afternoon cocktail or dessert.

Bonus points if you each make something for the other person.

Date vibe: Creative • Hands-On • Romantic • Memorable

🥕 Start Saturday at a Farmers Market

Saturday, August 22

If you're more “slow Saturday morning” than “Saturday night out,” start your weekend at one of OKC's farmers markets.

The Nicolosi Farmers Market returns August 22 and runs through October 24 on the fourth Saturday of each month.

Expect Sicilian food, local vendors, crafts, farm products and plenty to browse.

Our date-night idea:

Make a game of it.

Give each other $10–$20 and see who can find the most interesting thing.

Or buy ingredients together and challenge yourselves to make dinner that night.

Now your farmers market trip becomes the beginning of the date—not the entire date.

Date vibe: Casual • Foodie • Local • Slow Morning

🎶 Catch Free Live Music

Saturday, August 22 | 3–4 PM

The Arts Council Oklahoma City's Art Moves series is bringing country duo Sorry Darlin' to the Jake FM Pool Series at Council Place Apartments.

The performance is free and open to the public.

If you're looking for a low-cost date, this is a fun one to pair with coffee, lunch or an early dinner.

🌿 Your Sunday Reset

Not every date needs to be an event. Sunday is a perfect day to slow down. Grab coffee. Take a walk. Go somewhere you've never been. Sit outside and talk and leave the phones in the car for an hour. That's still a date. In fact, sometimes it's the best kind.

Our Pick for This Weekend

If we were creating the perfect Reserved For Two weekend?

Saturday:

Farmers Market → Afternoon at home → Dinner → Candlelight Concert

or, for something more adventurous:

Dinner → Remington Park → Dessert

Sunday:

Brunch → Art of Fabric Dyeing → Cocktails

That's three very different ways to spend a weekend—and none of them involve saying:

“I don't know. What do you want to do?”

The Reserved For Two Challenge

This weekend, try something a little different.

Let one person plan the date.

The other person isn't allowed to ask:

“Where are we going?” “What are we doing?”

or

“How much is this going to cost?”

Just get dressed and go. Then switch next time. Because a little mystery is good for a relationship. And because the best memories usually start with:

“I have something planned for us.”

Reserved For Two
Helping couples make time for each other—and making the date part the fun part.
