What to Do This Weekend in OKC: August 28–30, 2026
Your Weekend Guide to Things to Do in Oklahoma City & the Metro
It’s the last weekend of August, and if you’re looking for a reason to get out of the house, Oklahoma City has plenty going on.
From live theater and baseball to a reggae block party, farmers markets, live music and even a free fire-dancing show, there’s a little something for every kind of weekend.
And if you’re looking for a date idea, even better. We’ve picked a few of our favorites for couples, along with some easy ways to turn them into a whole evening.
Here’s what we’re putting on our calendar for August 28–30 in the OKC metro.
🎭 SEE A BROADWAY MUSICAL: THE OUTSIDERS
August 25–30 | Civic Center Music Hall | Oklahoma City
If you’ve been waiting for an excuse to dress up and go to the theater, this is it.
The Outsiders is in Oklahoma City through Sunday, August 30. Based on S.E. Hinton’s beloved novel, the musical follows Ponyboy Curtis, Johnny Cade and their friends as they navigate the rivalry between the Greasers and the Socs.
The show won four Tony Awards, including Best New Musical, and this is the final weekend of its OKC run.
Make it a date:
Dinner downtown → The Outsiders → dessert or a cocktail afterward.
Best for: A dress-up date, theater lovers or a special night out.
🎶 FRIDAY NIGHT: WEST VILLAGE REGGAE FEST
Friday, August 28 | 6–10 PM | West Village & Film Row
Friday night is block-party night.
West Village Fourth Fridays return this summer, and August brings the annual Reggae Fest, with music, cultural food and plenty of reasons to wander around the district.
It’s casual, lively and easy to turn into a spontaneous evening instead of one where every minute has been planned.
Make it a date:
Start with dinner nearby → wander through Reggae Fest → grab drinks or dessert afterward.
Best for: Couples who like music, food and a little people-watching.
🔥 A FREE FRIDAY NIGHT FIRE SHOW
Friday, August 28 | OKANA
Want something a little different?
Head to OKANA Friday night for its Friday Night Fire Show at the Boardwalk Amphitheater. The live fire-dancing performance takes place through September 5, and the show is free and open to the public—you don't have to be staying at the resort or have a waterpark pass to attend.
Seating begins at 8 PM.
Make it a date:
Dinner → stroll the OKANA boardwalk → fire show → late-night dessert.
Best for: Couples who have done dinner-and-a-movie enough times.
🛍️ SHOP LOCAL AT THE WHEELER DISTRICT
Friday, August 28 | Wheeler District
The Wheeler District Farmer's Market & Night Market is another fun Friday option.
You'll find local produce, handmade goods, artisan products and vendors from around Oklahoma. There's also the Ode Pop-Ups, where you can browse vintage treasures and unique finds.
It's a great choice when you don't really want an “event”—you just want somewhere fun to wander together.
Date-night tip: Pick out something for each other for under $20. Whoever finds the best treasure wins.
⚾ CATCH THE OKC COMETS
Friday, Saturday & Sunday | Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark
Baseball is still in season, and the Oklahoma City Comets are home this weekend against the El Paso Chihuahuas.
Games are scheduled for:
Friday, August 28 at 7:05 PM
Saturday, August 29 at 6:05 PM
Sunday, August 30 at 6:05 PM
A baseball game is one of those wonderfully uncomplicated dates: grab a drink, share some ballpark food, cheer loudly and don't worry about making conversation every second.
Make it a date:
Bricktown dinner → Comets game → walk along the canal afterward.
Best for: Casual couples, first dates and anyone who doesn't want a fancy night out.
🎵 SATURDAY: OPERA… BUT MAKE IT A NIGHT OUT
Dueling Divas & Dazzling Duets VIII
Saturday, August 29 | OK Cider Co.
Opera doesn't necessarily mean tuxedos and a fancy concert hall.
Dueling Divas and Dazzling Duets VIII brings the drama to OK Cider Co. for a fun, family-friendly opera competition where singers battle it out for the Diva Crown—and the audience gets a say.
The event has become an annual favorite for OK City Opera.
And honestly? This is exactly the kind of unusual date we love.
Make it a date:
Grab dinner beforehand → head to OK Cider Co. → pick your favorite diva → make a night of it.
Best for: Couples looking for something completely different.
🍷 HAVE A LITTLE SPANISH FIESTA
Saturday, August 29 | Tiny Bubbles
Tiny Bubbles is hosting a Spanish Tapas Party with Provisions Fine Beverage Purveyors, plus live music from guitarist Edgar Cruz from 1–4 PM.
The event is expected to be popular, so reservations are recommended.
Make it a date:
Tapas + live guitar + a leisurely afternoon together.
This could be especially good for couples who prefer day dates to staying out late.
🌻 START SATURDAY AT A FARMERS MARKET
Saturday morning is a great time to slow down and explore one of OKC's farmers markets.
Scissortail Park Farmers Market
Saturday morning | Scissortail Park
Shop Oklahoma-grown and Oklahoma-made products, including fresh produce, baked goods, meats and handmade items. The market runs Saturdays through October.
OAK OKC Farmers Market
Saturday morning | OAK OKC
OAK OKC's market features local vendors, fresh flowers, food, crafts and plenty to browse.
Date idea: Go without a plan. Each person gets $10–$20 and you have to pick something for the other person.
That's a Reserved For Two kind of morning.
🎨 TAKE A FREE GUIDED ART TOUR
Saturday | Oklahoma Contemporary
If you're looking for a quieter date, Oklahoma Contemporary offers a free public guided tour on Saturdays.
You can explore the current exhibitions while having someone guide you through the galleries and give you a little more context about the work. Admission to the museum is free as well.
Make it a date:
Art → coffee → lunch → wander around Automobile Alley.
Best for: Creative couples and anyone who likes dates that give you something to talk about.
🌿 FREE YOGA AT MYRIAD GARDENS
Saturday morning | Myriad Botanical Gardens
Start your Saturday moving with Myriad in Motion, a free yoga class at Myriad Botanical Gardens.
The class is open to all levels and is a great way to start the weekend before heading out for breakfast or exploring downtown.
Couples challenge: Go to yoga together, then reward yourselves with breakfast.
🎶 SUNDAY: SLOW IT DOWN
Sunday doesn't have to be packed.
Grab brunch, take a walk, visit a museum or catch an afternoon performance of The Outsiders. There are performances at the Civic Center on Sunday, including a 1:30 PM matinee and a 7 PM performance.
Or simply make your own Sunday adventure.
Try a Norman afternoon
Head south and spend a few hours in downtown Norman.
Start with the Norman Farm Market, open Saturday mornings, or spend Sunday afternoon exploring the area around campus and downtown. Art lovers can visit the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art, which is open Sunday from 1–5 PM.
For something more nature-focused, Sutton Wilderness Trail Park offers an easy way to get outside without leaving Norman.
❤️ OUR PICK FOR A PERFECT OKC DATE THIS WEEKEND
If we were planning one date this weekend, we'd make it a Friday night:
Dinner → West Village Reggae Fest → drinks or dessert → home before midnight.
Why?
Because a great date doesn't have to be expensive or complicated. Sometimes it's simply dinner, live music, walking around together and having enough time to actually talk.
And if you're feeling adventurous, swap Reggae Fest for the free fire show at OKANA.
Either way, you've got a date.
💕 THE BEST PART?
You don't actually need a special occasion to make a weekend feel special.
Pick something you've never done before. Try a restaurant you've driven past a hundred times. Go to a farmers market. See a show. Sit outside with a drink. Take a walk somewhere new.
Put your phones away for an hour.
And make a memory.
That's what we're all about at Reserved For Two.
Because your next great date doesn't have to be complicated.
It just has to be reserved for two.
